I grew up hearing my Grandma tell stories about her days growing up on Staten Island, NY & our crazy relatives.

I always thought it might be fun someday to learn more about those people who came before me. That "someday" arrived when my oldest child arrived home during the junior year of high school with an English assignment of "Family History, Stories & Genealogy".

I never did find out what that assignment had to do with high school English beyond the obvious usage of language - grammar, composition, syntax , etc.

But for certain the instructor had little knowledge of what researching one's family genealogy/history entails or the students would've been given longer than the two weeks' time alloted for the assignment.

Like so many, I started after many of the family elders had passed & now hunt for answers they could easily have provided. I enjoy the hunt & resulting knowledge but wish I'd gotten around to "someday" sooner.

Now researching my own, Hubby & my son-inlaw's family ancestries.
