My interests are based in Bethnal green and Shoreditch London.where My Ward family originated from.....
my great great grandfather John Ward was born in Bethnal green about 1805/6.......parents unknown.
his wife was Elizabeth Walker also born in Bethnal green.
they married at christ church Spitalsfield in 1823 at a very young age .............
I have no information on Ann Walker although on the marriage certificate the witnesses are given as .........ANN WALKER...THOMAS WARD AND ROBERT ROOT.
There is a possibility that Ann Walker could be Elizabeths mother ............
Thomas Ward could be John Wards father ........
this is as far as I have been able to trace this illusive family ........
Both sides were silk weavers .........
when they uprooted in 1834 and took all the children to Newcastle under Lyme Staffs where they carried on with the silk weaving trade until they died so did the rest of the children .............
My main interest is finding their oldest daughter Elizabeth Ward born approx 1826/7 in Bethnal green London.
Elizabeth is on the 1841 census for Newcastle under Lyme Staffordshire, living with her parents and siblings.
the first four children were born in Bethnal green .........the next four were born in Newcastle under Lyme .
Elizabeth's life has posed many unanswered questions , .
In 1851 she is still in Newcastle living with her family, unmarried and with a son named Alfred Thomas Ward, aged one.[no father ]
By 1861 I found her living in Coventry as a ribbon weaver, with two boys.named
John Johnson..born Bristol,Gloucestershire1857 approx.. aged four.
Henry Johnson..born Middlesex London.aged 2 born 1859
Elizabeth now calls herself JOHNSON...widow.
still in Coventry...in 1863 she gives birth to daughter
named on her birth certificate ,DAISY..[NO FATHER NAME].
ELIZABETH [mother] has given her own name as .Elizabeth Johnson, formerly WARD.[still a widow]
by 1867 Elizabeth has married a William Clark [wid]50...
